Goat farming in Udaipur Rajasthan

Sir,

I am interested in starting a goat farm in Udaipur district of Rajasthan for meat purposes. I have following queries in this regard:

1.  What are the recommended breeds of goats for my region and purpose?

2.  Is stall-fed model commercially viable in your experience? We will not be growing the feed but plan to purchase it.

3. If yes, then what are the recommended feed.

Thanking you

Your's sincerely

A.H. Raj

In drough prone area ,goat can thrive well than other animals. There are good goat breeds in rajasthan like Sirohi,Marwadi ,Jakhrana,Zalawadi etc.You can rear any of these breeds ,because they are very suitable for climatiac conditions and feeding facilities in Rajasthan.
However, stallfed goat farming is costlier and those breeds which wanders in hilly droughprone area,if you will tend then in stallfed condition then mortslity of such animals will happen.Goat thrives on different trees and shrubs like ACacia,Sesbania etc,so plant these species one year prior to starting gaot farm .If you want to procure green fodder form market ,then it is costly business.
