Re: seed rate of Dhaincha(green manure crop)

Dhaincha is a quick growing succulent green manure crop, which can be incorporated at about 8 to 10 weeks after sowing when the crop is at flowering stage. This crop adapts to varying conditions of soil and climate. It can be grown even under adverse conditions of drought, waterlogging, salinity etc.

Recommended seed rate is 20 to 25 kg per ha. The green matter yield is 10-20 tonnes per ha. Quantity of nitrogen fixed
is 75 to 80 kg per ha. Decomposition of crop depends upon the rainfall after the burring of crop and Depth of burring. It is recommended to burry the crop deeper in light soil than in heavy soil.

[Above information is based on recommendations from National Agriculture Research System. The Effectiveness of the recommendations varies from place to place with changes in natural resource and climate. Farmers are advised to use the information on their own responsibility. Re: seed rate of Dhaincha(green manure crop)

Dhaincha is good green manuring crop.It fix Nitrogen ,thus helps
increasing soil fertility. It increases organic matter, thus mentains
good physical, biological and chemical properties of soil.
It helps for good aeration in soil.It helps to make availability of macro and micro nutrients. These green manure crops can very well fit in intercropping systems, for ex;cotton, sugarcane,Tobbaco.
Chilli,Maize,Paddy,Arecanut,Coconut,and many fruit crops.
These crop should be incorporated in the soil at flowering stage.
Usually it will give an yield of 15-25 tons per ha. Seed rate is 25 kg per ha.Spacing is 12 inch. Before taking main crop ,it gas to
carporated in the soil.It better if you apply recommended P to the
greenmanure crop. This P will help to uptake easily to main crop.
There is no need to apply P again to main crop.

Re: seed rate of Dhaincha(green manure crop)

Thanks for your future adoption.I will be very glad if all our farmers will adopt such technique to improve their soil fertility.
Many villages there is no availablility of FARM YARD MANURE.
Even it is available it may not be of good quality.Only left is Green
Manuring.
